Whittlesea and Nillumbik
Our preschool is nestled in the serene Nillumbik Shire, providing a nurturing environment for children from both the Whittlesea and Nillumbik Shires. We take pride in our inclusive community where all families are warmly welcomed to join us in creating a vibrant learning space for their children.
Class Sizes
At our preschool, we are committed to maintaining small class sizes to ensure each child receives the attention and care they deserve. Each kinder group is capped at either 22 or 26, with the higher capacity for students supported by an additional staff member, ensuring the same level of individual attention and care.
3 Year Old Kinder Hours
In 2027, all children enrolled in our 3-year-old group will participate in 15 hours of educational programming per week, unless they are enrolled in the extended care program, which provides access to an additional program with extra hours. Our program is designed to support the developmental needs of young children, fostering social, emotional, and cognitive growth through a range of play-based learning experiences.
4 Year Old Kinder Hours
For our 4-year-old groups, we are excited to still offer 15 hours of preschool education each week in 2027. This program aims to prepare children for their transition to primary school, focusing on enhancing their literacy, numeracy, and social skills through engaging and age-appropriate activities.

Note: Subject to family demand, children in the Possum and Kookaburra groups (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) may be offered an optional extended care program until 4:30pm in 2027. This additional option supports families requiring longer hours and provides children with a continued safe and enriching learning environment.
Enrolment Process
All enrolments for Yarrambat Plenty Preschool are processed through the Nillumbik Shire Council central enrolment scheme.
Enrolment information and forms are available through Nillumbik Shire Council or directly from the preschool.
Enrolments generally open in March, two years before your child is eligible to attend kindergarten. Families are encouraged to submit their preferences within the relevant enrolment period to be considered for a place.
2027 Enrolments
The first, second and third rounds of offers for 2027 have now been sent to families.
Preference forms for 2027 have also been distributed, and we are now working through these preferences to organise the kindergarten classes and groups for next year.
We are working hard to accommodate as many family preferences as possible while also considering the needs of each group and the requirements of our kindergarten program. We appreciate families’ patience while we work through this process.
We will provide families with information about their child’s group and class arrangements as soon as we can.
